Universal data loggers accept inputs from various types of thermocouples, RTD Sensors, mV and mA signals. As they accept a wide range of inputs, they are termed as Universal Data Loggers. Universal Data Loggers are available in various types of enclosures, DIN size panel mount, IP65 rated polycarbonate enclosures, and flameproof enclosures.

Input types can be user configured. Loggers can be connected to PC and monitored with DLOG windows based software as well as can be used with SCADA software.

Graphic Data Loggers show parameter readings in a colorful and graphical manner. Usually, Data Loggers are available with either LED or alphanumeric LCD displays. An input to a Data Logger is termed as a channel. Multichannel data loggers are available from two channels to sixty-four channels. In instruments, panels, inverters, and generators, it is required to monitor electrical parameters like AC voltage and current. A normal panel meter only shows the readings but does not log them. AC voltage current loggers not only display these readings but also log them periodically. Optional alarm facilities can be provided alerting the user about abnormal situations. This can be an added advantage over normal panel meters.

An Event is an occurrence of special importance that happens or takes place over a period of time. The chronology of events can be of prime importance in industry for understanding the reasons for break-down as well as to alert to avert a break-down. The role event logger, thus plays in any process control industry or automobile industry or any manufacturing industry is very crucial.

Event loggers typically accept digital inputs or potential-free contact inputs which indicate the occurrence of a particular event. These events are time-stamped and are saved in memory for the user to analyze at a later date. SMS, alerts, emails, or mobile notifications can be generated for user-defined critical events. This can help to avert accidents, mishaps, breakdowns by aiding in timely maintenance or bringing to notice the failure of a component immediately.

Event loggers are also used in power generating stations to monitor the sequence of power breaker / contractor operations or in atomic energy generation plants like BARC to monitor the wear and tear of the electrodes.

Level loggers are used for logging the level of any liquid at periodic intervals. Level loggers find application in the process control industry where there are tanks for storing chemicals or even water. They are also used at dams, canals, and town/city water storage tanks where water level recording is very crucial, and its analysis is required for making decisions about operating the gates/valves, cost impact, etc.

Level logger provides an interface to level sensors with resistive or 4-20 mA or similar such electrical outputs. For outdoor remote applications like level monitoring of dams, level loggers offer GPRS connectivity to send data to the central server for quick access. 

In a manufacturing set-up, counter loggers are used to log the timings of each product manufactured. This time-stamped counting information is useful to analyze the rate of production and time study. The typical output of a counter logger will be, date, time, and count value.

Apart from industrial applications, the counter logger can be used in people counting to record the pattern of foot-fall, or in any commercial application where the repetitive occurrence of events is to be logged.

Counter loggers have a variety of communication options to convey this data to users over RS485/ LAN / WiFi or USB.

Electrical loggers log the electrical AC parameters like AC Voltage, AC current, Power factor, Kw, KwH, KVAR etc. periodically. The logger is available for single as well as three-phase applications. It can be used for home applications as well. Users can find out which appliances are consuming more power than estimated. In Industrial applications, one can find out power consumed by individual machines and take corrective actions to save on power consumption. In test benches and quality testing, Electrical Data Loggers can be used to monitor the power consumption of a device under test.
